Faerie Flirtation

01_25_15_001

Something else I love about SecondLife is that I sometimes I get invited to events with themes like Wings & Underwear. I spent a mere $250L on new wings, clothes, and a tattoo for tonight's event and was lucky enough to win 2nd place in the contest, so I figured I should snap a few shots before bed.

Leaf on the Wind

Leaf on the Wind

One of the things I enjoy about SecondLife is the sense of community. Aside from all of the benefits for things like cancer research, there are often benefits thrown to help individuals who've been thrown a curveball by life.

Amy, also known as Scarlet Chandrayaan (owner of Alouette), is extremely ill with an unfortunate prognosis, so several SL designers have come together to create a sort of Make a Wish benefit for Amy so she can fulfill her dream of visiting London. The event - called Leaf on the Wind - has a London theme with a lot of clothing, accessories, and housewares. Even if you aren't as crazy about London as this little anglophile, there are many items that aren't London themed, and several kiosks around the sim where one can make donations to the cause without making a purchase.

Because my inventory is bursting at the seams, I exercised restraint and only bought this mesh dress with a gorgeous sparkly London skyline around the bottom, and these cute peeptoe plaid heels. Because I wanted to help a bit more, I also made a donation at one of the kiosks.

Leaf on the Wind runs through February 1, 2015. You can read more about Amy on the official event site.

There Will Be Guns

I got a new job, so my SL time has been significantly reduced. I hope to be able to keep this blog alive, but that may mean the focus shifts toward more arty photos and away from the more straightforward fashion blog photos.

Speaking of photos, my friend Nigel and I played dress up this afternoon as he indulged my request for an updated photo of the two of us. While he was setting up the shot, I snapped a few photos of my own. The two featured below are completely unedited.

Of course, as always, Nigel's work made me squee and want to stare at it forever...

Collabor88 - Janary 2015

Windsong for c88

I'm gearing up to start a new job next week, so this one is going to be short 'n' sweet.

The first Collabor88 of the year has kicked off and the theme is Unicorns. Exile's contribution, Windsong, (seen above) would be perfect for a fae or mermaid look, or even just to a little zing to your usual look. According to a friend, "the wicked curly bits are separate - so you can color it separately than the main body of the hair and get really wild with it."

You can see some more of this round's offerings in the Collabor88 catalog.

DIY Home Decor

DIY Decorating

Recently I've been drooling over a new bed that's completely out of my price range - especially since I'm single in SL and rarely use the gorgeous bed I already have. Then I realized that I was primarily drawn to the lights on the new bed and that I'd bought a huge set of low-prim lights for Christmas. So I dove headfirst into my box of holiday decorations and added a few strings of lights to my existing bed with pretty pleasing results. I think this is a very good example of how one can take existing items and add personal touches to make them their own.

As a sidenote, this photo is completely untouched.

A Very Merry Unbirthday (Lapointe & Bastchild)

As you may remember, shortly after my return to SL my dear friend Orlando buried me in gifts from Lapointe & Bastchild. I spent an entire afternoon trying on clothing and taking photos, with the intent of making several detailed blog posts about the outfits. Unfortunately, after the first post, I got distracted by limited-time event items and group gifts while the Lapointe & Bastchild photos sat neglected and sad on my hard drive. Today, I decided to start off the new year by giving some love to those photos and L&B's fabulous designs.

In order to keep from overwhelming my readers with a flood of information, I won't be providing my usual in-depth descriptions for every single outfit. However, if you want to know the details of anything featured in this post, please feel free to drop me a notecard in-inworld (Ezerbet Nitschke) or contact me up Plurk (EzerbetNitschke). (Please don't IM me, those get capped fairly quickly and I might miss your message.)

Unless stated otherwise, all clothing is from Lapointe & Bastchild.

Very Merry Unbirthday

The photo above shows several variations of L&B's S'Wear Insolent set ($499L). The boots are NOT included, they're L&B's Elise Ankle & Knee Boots - PATENT BL ($699L), a set which comes with both ankle-high and knee-high boots.

Very Merry Unbirthday

The outfits above are made up of both solo pieces and by mixing and matching items from sets with solo pieces. For example, the jeans in the 2nd photo and sweater in the 3rd photo are both from L&B's S'Wear Mischief Hoodie fatpack ($699L) which contains 7 colors of argyle sweater hoodies, jeans with matching argyle swatches on the back pockets, and matching belts.

Very Merry Unbirthday

The 2nd outfit in the photo above is L&B's S'Wear Tempt Black Leather set ($499L) paired with the same L&B Elise Ankle Boots I mentioned earlier in this post.

The shirt I'm wearing in the 1st and 4th photos is L&B's Death Royale Beaded Halter ($399L) which has 8 HUD-driven texture options (all black).

The cropped tee I'm wearing in the 3rd photo above (and a couple other photos in this post) is L&B's S'wear Mesh Cropped T-shirt ($399L) which has 4 HUD-driven design options in 3 colors (cream, black, and pink).

Very Merry Unbirthday

The pants I'm wearing in the 1st and 3rd photos above are L&B's S'Wear Zipp Women's Leather Pants - Color Set ($599L) which have 23 HUD-driven color options for the pants and 2 options for the zippers (silver and bronze).

The boots I'm wearing in the 1st and 4th photos are L&B's L&B S'Wear Carissa Ankle Boots ($599L) which have 24 HUD-driven color options for the boot leather, 11 options for the metal studs and buckles, and 2 options for the soles (black and beige).

The heels I'm wearing with the blue outfit in the 3rd photo are Kristen Slink Heels High Feet by FashionNatic ($380). They have corset lacing on the back and underside of the shoe, and have 20 HUD-driven color options for both the main part of the shoe and heels (changed separately so you can create your own combinations), 2 options for the metal rivets on the back (silver and gold), and a plethora of "create your own color" options for the fabric behind the laces on both the back and underside of the shoe (also changed separately). You can get a better look at them on the Marketplace.

The heart-shaped sunglasses I'm wearing in the 3rd photo are the Puppy Love Shades by Sn@tch ($100L). They're mesh shades which are touch-scripted for size and have 22 touch-scripted color change options for both the lenses and frames (changed separately).

Very Merry Unbirthday

The 1st outfit in the photo above is L&B's Swear Candy" Zipp Mini Skirt - Tartans ($499L) which has 20 HUD-driven tartan/leather combinations and 8 options for the zipper and studs. It also has 19 leather and 22 tartan options so you can create your own pairings. The top is L&B's S'Wear Beaded Halter - Knit Brights ($399L) which has 12 HUD-driven color options. The boots are the knee-high version of L&B's Elise Ankle & Knee Boots - PATENT BL ($699L) - the ankle version of which is shown in the very first photo of this post.

The 3rd outfit is the S'Wear Mischief Hoodie fatpack ($699L) that I talked about in detail beneath the 2nd photo in this post.

The 4th outfit is the S'wear Mesh Cropped T-shirt I mentioned earlier and L&B's S'Wear Pencil Skirt FatPack2 ($499L) which has 24 HUD-driven color options. The boots are L&B's S'Wear "Bianca" Ankle Boots - Smooth Neutrals 2 ($599L) which come with 16 HUD-driven color options for the leather, 3 for the soles, 18 for the straps, and 2 for the zippers and buckles (silver and bronze). I'm also wearing Ebony Stockings by Bettie's ($50L) which have a lovely seam on the back.
